    Quick TC question

Just switched out an auto and after Ive got it mounted up, i try to spin the torque converter from the bottom and it doesnt spin freely.

Do I gotta do this shit again? Ive push the converter into the tranny as best i could multiple times during installation.

The converter has to be rotated while inserted and will settle in with multiple steps as it aligns with splines and eventually the front pump. Most the time if not settled in properly it will break the pump, especially if you have to pull it together with the bellhousing bolts.

It is possible that the TC nub that goes into the end of the crank is binding but usually the above for those not familiar with a TC install.

      thanks for the reply.

i made sure it was seated properly both times I tried to reinstall.

and im able to spin it a bit until it binds on the triangular part of the crank a bit.

once i torque the bellhousing down, its almost impossible to move it by hand in that small opening.

then once i torque the TC to the crank wheel, Im able to spin it by turning the crank with a big wrench.

maybe im being ocd here as this is my first time replacing a tranny and dont want shit to explode on me.

If you are able to mate the engine and tranny together without a gap between them you are probably ok. There should be able to be a slight gap between where the flex plate and TC bolt together. There can be some rust buildup on that nub that goes into the end of the crank that may be binding it up.

well right when I was bolting everything up, I was tightening the TC to the crank plate and now I cant even turn the crank from the 22m bolt.

          it is crazy stuck now.

rediculous.. I fear I will have to take it all back down again.
