''P'' stamped diff

I just got a 3.73 LSD and it has both the "S" and the "P" stamped on it. The tag also has the "S3.73" on it and both output shafts spin the same direction. It's def a LSD Diff but the "P" is puzzling me. I am searching through google right now but hopefully reviving this old thread will lead to someone knowing the answer to the "P" stamp.

The diff is also leaking.




They ordered a 3.46 torsen from a 2.5 manual Z3 to replace it.

The guys at LKQ suck, the diff came from a 1990 325i, 3,73 on the tag, ''P'' stamped on the diff and they still write ''locking'' on the papers...

Yes and it's whining almost as bad as my old one. By chance they have a 6 months/10k kms warranty.

I'm dealing with my friend who's working there. In the system it's written ''locking'' but doesn't look like it is a locking diff to me. I'm gonna open it tonight after work to be sure.

Anyway I'm gonna rock it since it was pretty cheap and I'm broke.
