My 325is has the Getrag 260 (5 spd manual) and I was curious as to how much torque and hp it can handle? if there is a thread on this can someone link it here so I don't waste anyones time.? I didn't happen to see one searching through here. My goals are for a 5-600 hp m20 and just wondering if the tranny can handle that or should I start looking else where? Thanks in advance.

260 stands for torq rating. so 260 and 260 with your 260 not being so new, reduce it by %25 so about 200 -

But to answer your question I've seen quite a few 400hp E30's running the 260, stock diff, stock axles. I know that's not as high as you're wanting to go but the 260 is definitely a robust transmission. If DesertBMW's theory was correct my trans would have broken like 8 years ago.Comment

260 is torq rating in newton meters. It means that transmission is ok up to that poing and will go above that, but that's what BMW is rating it at. The above is from BMW training manual.Comment
