Is a 318i manual tranny the same as a 325i one?

I bought a 90 325is auto. I would like to attempt the conversion to manual for which there are many great threads on this forum.

I found a crashed 318i w low mileage and a manual tranny. Are those the same as the ones used in the 325i ? What about the driveshaft? Would the 4 cylinder shaft be somewhat longer than the one for the 6? So would this be a good donor car for my conversion?

I tried to do a search for this but it involves too many keywords apparently.
