    Transmission SWAP Questions ?

    I have a 89 e30 325is M20 automatic & i want to do a manual trans swap.

What transmissions can i use to do so?
    Can i use a Getrag 240 out of a 1991 e30 318i ? or
    Can i use a Getrag 250 out of a 1997 318ti?

I done some reading online and found the Getrag 250 is stronger of the 2.
Will it be a direct bolt in ?
Can i use any e30 manual driveshaft ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

The only direct fit will be a Getrag 260 and the matching drive shaft out of an E30 or an early E34.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

As said above do yourself a favor and just get the correct trans. They're easy to find and it will make your life a lot easier. No reason to worry about custom parts and "making things work" on something that will go together just like factory.

Yea get a 260. I have 246k on the same original clutch and it works fine. Sometimes it's easier to pull the whole engine out and then bolt the transmission on there because after replacing the rear main seal on mine, I can just assure you it's a pain in the ass to get it back in. With the engine out, you can do typical stuff. Valve cover gasket, head gasket, timing belt, water pump, spark plugs etc...
