How to remove Pinion from Differential

How do I remove the pinion from the diff? Is there another lock ring? I have already pulled the the input flange, lock ring and seal.

I have never pulled one but putting it back together isn't simple from what I've read. If I may ask, why are you trying to pull the pinion gear?

Guy is buying my Ring and Pinion from my 3.73 LSD. I figured out I need to get a couple ton puller to push out the Pinion. Just need to figure out the crown wheel bolts now. My impact isnt touching them.

Maybe heating them up before putting impact on it?

I got in bind once so screwed the nut back on flush, got out a piece of 2x4 and smacked it back in the casing with a mini sledge. Ghetto but worked.

          **edit**

wait...you aren't trying to pull it out of the front of the diff are you? The LSD carrier has to be removed and the pinion gear pressed back into the diff.

            step one:

obtain BMW TIS for differential; follow instructions.
            OBD1 M54/M52TU swap as a M50b25
