    5 Speed Swap questions

    I'm going to do a 5 speed swap in my 1988 325 2.7L supereta.

I was wondering what would be the best way to do this (clutch and parts)?
Should I do single or double mass?

Your car is a Super Eta so if it were me I'd go with the single mass i flywheel.

Clutch kit go with a stock replacement for a 325i by Sachs or Luk.

I'd say the most popular shifter is Z3 1.9 but there's plenty of options. Do some research on reviews and see which one seems best to you. My personal favoriate right now is the E60 545i lever.

I'm piecing together my swap on my 325i 2.5 m20, g260 trans. I am going with a single mass I flywheel. And if you are piecing together a 5 speed swap as well I'd re-do everything. That way you get a nice long lasting 5 speed!

I did this exact swap, All off a 89 325i, single mass flywheel. You will need a reverse light wiring harness, or if you are like me and dont care.

That is a great time do all of those plus things. And that list looks good to me. Not sure what else there is, I'm still researching myself. Do you have the g260 housing or anything else yet?

Two spade connectors and a length of wire will do the same.

I got my trans from ezpull. It's hit or miss but they used to have at least 5 e30s at all times with a bunch of parts. Now it's like 1 every so often.

Edit: harrys just sucks in general anymore.

One thing you might not think of when looking for parts. Make sure you get the manual exhaust mount for the gearbox too as it's different than the auto one.

As an 88 seta owner who wants to do a g260 swap who also lives in SE Pa I am subbing this thread. I haven't talked with bimmerbuddies yet but I'm about to call and put my ticket in for the next g260 swap they can do. Any idea what their pricing for such a job will look like?
