    LSD Fluid

How necessary is LS modifier in an LSD? I've heard that it only quiets the clutches but makes them slip more, decreasing the lockup. I've read anything from change it every year and there won't be any increased wear to it'll kill the clutches quickly. If I can run NS fluid and lock up more without significantly increased wear I'd rather do that. I'll be running full synthetic either way and probably change it every 10k ish if i use regular open diff fluid.

redline 75w90 is perfect for our diffs. Already contains the friction modifiers for clutch-type lsd's. This is the stuff you want http://www.redlineoil.com/product.aspx?pid=133&pcid=4

gear oils with "ns" modifiers such as http://www.redlineoil.com/product.aspx?pid=47&pcid=7 are no good for clutch-type lsd's as you can see from the product info it is made for manual transmissions/transaxles.

Yes...but that doesn't really answer my question. If no one else replies by tonight I'll just buy the fluid meant for LSDs I suppose. But my main question is how much more will regular fluid make it lock up, and how much more will it wear my clutches?

I think the difference in the amount it will lock up is not noticeable. How often do you plan on locking up? Is this a drift, street car?

Street car. I just got synthetic fluid with LSD additives. It's a 25 year old diff anyways. The fluid looked clean but if I have the money I'll probably rebuild it to 40% sometime.
