88 325ci has auto trans. 1991 have manual trans. How hard and what extra steps do I need to do to switch. My gf enjoys my 88 so much and there is a 91 on CL we plan on buying. It's a stick. I told her to learn stick but I know in time she will. Just in case not. What are the extra steps I need to take?

Easy, just swap all the parts from Manual into AT and AT into Manual. All parts will fit between both '88 and '91 -
The mechanical parts are a direct swap, but the manual car won't have the wiring for the shift console.The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

That or you can trace the auto shift harness back through the wiring loom and remove what needed
Manual -> swaps are much more wiring intensive than Manual -> Auto
Just swap your auto to manual and call it a day. If she refuses to learn stick, drop it like its hotComment
