Torsen vs lsd..... Help me out

Either in an idiot or my mechanic is.

After my s52/zf swap my 4.10 LSD was obviously not going to work as my final drive.

I opted for a 3.15 LSD which was perfect for the 2-3 miles I drove before it locked up because someone didn't fill it with oil.
After a tow truck to the shop they threw a "1000$ torsen 3.46" in which was fine for temporary. But still the gearing for hghway driving was not that pleasant.

I know torsens are not 1000 but this mechanic insisted because they never blow and everyone in autox runs them. (Good for them)

I told him I really want 2.93-3.23 LSD so I lined that up and now he's putting a 3.15 torsen.

Once again I said I want an LSD as this car will be used for daily and drifting.

He says that torsen is better for drifting because blah blah blah.

Am I an idiot? Is torsen better for drifting or not?

As I understand it is better than a posi but still acts as an open diff because it delivers power to the wheel with more traction but for drifting I want the rear to lock up and both to spin evenly so I can control the car

Maybe you first need to know how a torsen differential works...their design is to improve wheel traction by not allowing wheel spin to occur. I believe the Z3 came with a torsen from factory.
Instead of letting a shop boss you around, how about they install what YOU say? You are the paying customer.

*I'll trade you my 3.25lsd for your torsen 3.46*

My mechanic was trying to explain why a torsen I better for a few reason about nose diving in a corner and preventing understwer/oversteer etc which is th "blah blah " I mentioned before

Just so you know, he is wrong. A torsen is crap for drifting and crap for road racing... All around crap.

Also stock old lsd isn't very good for drifting ether. It works but it's just usually very worn. The biggest improvement I've made drifting Is getting a built diff by wangan style on the forum, guy is a diff guru.
