    Its probably this. One of my e30's came that way. 15 minutes later and it was perfect.

    E30s are really simple compared to the Ex6 cars... I do a bunch of work with my dad on his M3 and it's a bitch compared to the E30

    well i am very mechanically inclined @poorboys. i just haven't ever worked on an e30. my e36 you had to drop the exhaust and part of the driveline

    That'll only take you 5 minutes and replacing the shifter takes about 10. I think it's exactly what PO says it is. And if you think this is a shit ton of work do yourself a favor and never do a motorswap lol

    No, you just loosen the e rxhaust to remove heat shield. You might even be able to do it without removing heat shield. If you think this is a ton of work than you're probably not very mechanically inclined.

    I believe its exactly what you claim the PO said it is.

    What is happening is the linkage is too long therefore pushing the shift lever inside the car forward. Just get a OEM E30 one and you should be fine. Its a 10 minute job and most of that is lifting the car.
