    manual tranny neutral safety?????

My question is whether or not manual transmission has a neutral safety or clutch safety as the state inspectors are calling it. I was under the impression that i did not, and to shift into reverse from drive you just have to push the gear lever all the way to the left on the 5 spd. I failed a state inspection because of this and other things, but the other things are my own doing. But a neutral safety switch?????? I thought that was only for autos.

Any input would be great, or maybe someone can enlighten me.

There is not a neutral safety switch, or clutch switch on the manuals to start it. The clutch switch that is there is for the cruise control.

From the factory the car could be started in gear and without the clutch in, it would jump.

Yes , reverse is past first and up. You do need to push hard past the plunger to get over and up to reverse.

Thats what i thought. So either the state inspector doesnt know what he is talking about, or they are just trying to scam for more money. I just wanted to hear it from someone other than myself thinking that. thanks for the input.

        Todd Black 88 is correct!
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Exactly. Many a shop has been surprised by this.
