IE and Gargastic pedal bushing woes

    Hello all,

I have had nothing but problems with both of these companies pedal bushings.

I first purchased the bronze and delrin sets from IE with a large order I placed.
When they came in I went about installing them. Removed the spacer shafts then the old bushings. This is where the problems begin

The OD of the bushings are all too large to fit into the pedal pivot shafts. The ID is too small to allow the spacer shafts to be inserted. And the bushing flanges are too thick per the difference in measurement between the shaft length and the sum of bare pedal pivot length plus 2 bushing flange widths. Once bolted down the bushings would be crushed to the point at which the pedals could not operate.

I ditched the IE parts and purchase the units from Gargastic and ran into the same issue.

Is anyone else having this issue or have any insight to share. Anything would be greatly appreciated.

Looking on IE's site it seems the bushings are only for airbag cars. (And newer BMW's)

Is your car an airbag car?

The easy way to solve this is to go to your dealer and order the bushings by VIN.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Mr325. Yes. They are going into an 89

Jlevie. I was hoping to install these upgraded parts to prevent having to do them again in the future.

Update: garagistic promptly refunded my money upon receiving my email asking what the possible issues may be. No email response stating te issues though.

IE has not yet emailed me back

An 89 is not an airbag car.

I'd say that is questionable logic. The throttle rod bushings typically last about 20 years. So it will be a long time before they'll need replacing again.

As mentioned the problem isn't with the parts. What is the vin on your car? This'll tell us the build date (and back up what MR 325 has said).
