    Ca-thunk

    Hi all.

So, I just picked up my first e30. (Actually my first car in about 15 years).

325i with an auto (non-electronic). It drives very well, shifts smoothly through all the gears, up and down except -- when coming to stop when the trans shifts from 2nd to 1st. A pronounced thunk.

If I ever so lightly keep the revs up (like 1k), while braking to a stop -- no thunk.

Trans fluid is clean and does not smell burny. I was planning on starting with checking the transmission accelerator pedal, but anything else I should be looking at? Could something in the diff or driveshaft be causing the symptom?

OK. I'll just flush and fill as I don't know when it was last changed anyway.

New diff fluid hasn't changed a thing.

The PPI I had done reported that all the bushing, u-joints, etc checked out fine. I'm going to take a closer look, aside from the u-joint, anything else I should pay particular attention to?
