Automatic Transmission Problem

i have a 1989 325ix and it has the automatic transmission.. its starting to shift late into 3rd and 4th gear and if you floor it it red lines and wont shift until you let off of it and also when i brake it down shifts very hard like its in a sport mode or something but my E30 doesnt have that? and it doesnt want to go above 85 mph and sounds like its red lining and backs off of itself then too..

what is going on with the tranny? bc it feels very strong and runs great besides the delayed shifting and the red lining full pedal and at 85 mph

I read that it could be the governor(voltage regulator) and change the fluid and filter 3 times? But i aint sure about that..

Step 1 is to make sure your kickdown cable is properly adjusted.

Check the fluid level first. It should be checked while the engine is running, and should be in gear. You need a companion to do that.
