    M20/m42 clutch/flywheel questions

I did some research and a Google search but couldn't find an answer to my questions.

    I have a 91 318is. I'm swapping in an M20 i motor. I'm using the stock G240 and swapping in a 373 LSD.

My question is, can I use the M42 clutch, flywheel and starter? I've heard of people swapping in M20 flywheels into M42 cars but nothing of the opposite or anything as far as the clutch or starter.

An on-ramp is a terrible thing to waste...

If you use everything together I don't see why it wouldn't fit but m20 clutch stuff is cheap and plentiful so why not run a single mass setup that you know fits and is lighter and stronger?

I wasn't sure what would fit, which is why I was asking. I managed to track down an M20 clutch kit and flywheel from a friend. We're still not sure on the starter. Is the starter the same if I use the G240 with M20 clutch/flywheel?

While we're on the subject as well, I have the engine harness and DME. Is the diagnostic port different? The plugs look the same just different pins.

You have to use an M20 starter when you use an M20 flywheel. Or you can swap the M20 starter bendix (gear) onto the M42 starter, but its easier just to swap the whole starter.

            Diagnostic connector is the same.
