DIY: Rear Differential Swap?

[OOMPH!]

I searched and couldn't find anything. Is there a good DIY write up for swapping out the rear diff? I want to remove my 4.10 and install a 2.93 lsd I just bought in my 89 325is.

Any help is appreciated!

It's one of the simplest jobs on the e30.

Put the car on jack stands and take a look. Its just a nuts and bolts job.

very simple job, only awkward because diffs are heavy.

jack up your car, support with jackstands

disconnect speedo wires

remove all 12 bolts holding axles to diff (Having a helper grab and release to e-brake makes this much easier. and remove these before your driveshaft or it will be a PITA to remove the axles)

remove 4 bolts on driveshaft

remove diff bushing bolt

wiggle it free and down
