G260 from an ix into an i

So I picked a 5speed from an ix in the yard on the hearsay that it could work in my i with some changes.

What I want to know is how difficult is it to swap the output flange and rear portion of the trans so it can fit in an i?

or is it even necessary to mod it? is there any info out there regarding this? or should I consider selling the trans off to some hungry ix owner?

I wouldn't bother converting it, regular g260s are still plentiful IX parts are not, sell it to a IX owner in need and you will make enough to buy another direct fit trans

yes the entire gearbox has to come apart to swap the tailshaft housing so its a lot of work and special tools are needed , i dont think you can just install it as is as ,i think the IX trans mounts in a different place and the IX shifter console is different . above post has the best solution as the IX box is rare enough compared to the gazillions of 325i boxes out there
