Hey guys, first post here and new to E30's, so I hope my questions aren't too stupid. I got my first car, a 1987 325i convertible that's in pretty good shape for the price I paid but it needs a new transmission.
It has no first and second gear; the previous owner thought it was the clutch and replaced that about a year ago. Still had no first and second, so it's the synchroniser. Rebuilding the transmission is more than I can do right now, so I'm going to replace it and the slave cylinder. I found a transmission pulled out of an 1987 E28 535i.
Specs wise it looks the same, a Getrag 260 5-speed of the same year as my E30. So I'm thinking it should be a pretty dirtect fit. But I read they might have different bell housings or different guibos, so to sum it all up, is a 1987 E28 535i tranny the same as my 1987 E30 325i tranny?
