M20 auto trans cooling line replacement issue

    afternoon everyone,
so a while back my buddy blew a cooling line in his auto 325is and his car just wouldnt go faster that 2mph no matter the revs it was given. so we replaced the line(s) we did both just to be sure and now his car is going a little faster but its just not picking up speed at all its very sluggish and almost feels as if the clutch is slipping. there is also a bit of a burning smell so obviously we're a bit worried by this...any ideas?

any help would be appreciated thanks !

You're 100% sure the fluid is full?

          Dex III is fine

sounds like the tranny is toast

yep, the fluid is 100% full.

they thought the fluid would need a while to make its way through the system since it was empty for like two months but after we did the job and filled her up w ATF she ran for like 15 min and then we went drove her and went shifted through all the gears so i feel like the fluid shouldve fully circulated

Was the car driven any distance after the line blew? If so the transmission lost all fluid and suffered internal damage.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
