    Please help ! driveshaft problem

HELP! 88 325is. 88 325 engine / trans. The driveshaft is a 325i manual driveshaft and is the perfect length, but the guibo won't work only 3 of the wholes work for the driveshaft, the trans flange won't line up with the other 3 wholes, tried the larger guibo and that won't work too because 3 of the wholes line up but the other 3 dont.. so what it comes down too is a regular 325i manual drive shaft which uses the smaller guibo but something is weird with the trans flange not matching up with the guibo / shaft.

Sounds like you have a late 87 325e transmission. The 86-87 325e used a larger flange, 12mm guibo bolt holes, and different spacing. 325i uses a smaller flange, 10mm guibo bolt holes and smaller spacing. I would try and find/use a 86-87 325e driveshaft.

On my swap. 91 318is. I used the 10 mm quibo that was stock on my car and drill 3 of the holes out to 12 mm so the 325is e36 drive shaft would bolt to it.

It has the cps in the front though not the 2 in the bell housing.. it's weird.. should I bolt uo a 87 325e driveshaft or switch out the flange for a 325i late model one and use the other guibo and driveshaft that I just wasted $150 on lol

I also have a 87 325e driveshaft I could try which means it would have the larger flange, but how does a 325e trans work on the 325i? I honestly hope I can just throw my 87 325e one on there and be good..

some etas has a larger bell housing because of the dual mass flywheel. so if your trans has a bigger bell housing you need a new throw out bearing, one that is bigger. If you find your 'eta' 260 trans has the deeper bellhousing, you can correct for it by using a thicker throw-out bearing.
Sachs P/N 21511204525 is a 30mm bearing and will make up the difference.
If you use the driveshaft/guibo that came with the transmission you'll be fine

            hope that helps

thats if you decide to swap the trans. maybe you can take the 3 bolt flange from the eta trans and transfer it. i think its a 30mm socket and put the eta flange onto the i trans.
