Ideal transmission to swap into my 1989 325is

I just bought a 1989 325is and its auto i don't mind driving it but i want to swap to a manual in year or so down the road i have a lot to learn and a lot of parts to collect before i can do the job. I am pretty sure it has a 4.10 diff what would be the best transmission to swap in.
    -thanks

Buy a late model parts car with Getrag 260 5 speed trans, buy and replace anything that is needed (Ex: clutch master or slave, guibo, CSB). New trans seals, Redline MT90 fluid, maybe new clutch and pressure plate.

You can probably get a parts car for less than piecing together a 5-speed setup. There are a lot of misc small pieces that you will need, IMO getting a parts car would be the way to go.

We can't suggest to you what would be best cause you havent told us what you want to do with your car. You want MPGs or do you want your car to be as fast as possible light to light?

4.10 with ZF320 you will be at around 4K at 70mph.

        4.10 with a G260 you're still going to be at 3500rpms plus.

        3.73 with a ZF at 70mph you'll be at 36-3800rpms

        3.73 with a G260 you will be at 2800-3K rpms at 70mph.

What direction are you going with your car?
