    4hp22 power capabilities

Okay lets get this straight first, the whole reason i got this car was because it was an automatic. The car is an alpine white 325i with 98k miles fully stock unmolested it is comfortable and nothing rattles it is an all options car, and it has an automatic.

I am interested in doing a turbo setup after i found out megasquirt does a plugnplay. This is not my first time building a car, i have done swaps, full standalones, and i am a fabricator, so i know my way around things

I do plan on keeping it an automatic? Why? Because i got tired of manuals, i think its fun, but in the city, s**t gets old real quick. I apologize if you dont like that i want an automatic, if you dont like it, i dont care, so if you dont have any Relative and positive information about the 4hp22 transmission, please do not post at all. I have read other forums about this trans and all you see is people hating on automatics, get a life, instead of talking shit, be productive go out and play with your dog or something

Anyway, now that i got that out of the way, is there anybody who has had experiance with boosted m20s on auto trans? How much boost can they take until they start slipping?
I know theres this site selling upgrade parts for the auto trans, but i would do that down the road

Im trying to build a sleeper, out of my stock e30

    Thanks in advance

If you're not afraid of tearing one apart, they can be built for 300+ HP.
The E30 version is fully hydraulic, but the E32/E34 version used with the M30 is electronically controlled by a standalone computer.

      I @$$ume you'll be turboing the M20.

Also, the 4HP24 is very very similar, but has a larger direct clutch. You *should* be able to buy a 4HP24 from an E32 750i and swap the M20 bellhousing onto it. The 4HP24's were used with 300 HP stock in heavy cars, and should be buildable for 400++ in an E30.

If you get a 750i trans, I'll buy the bellhousing from you.

Also, some E39 540i's received a 5HP24 with removable bellhousing. It's fully electronic as well. I'm not sure if the 5HP trans can bolt up to a 4HP bellhousing.
