    difference in clutches?

Anybody know of some info about the different clutches?

    I have two infront of me, one off a 84 318 and one off a 85 318...

One has more springs around in the circle pattern then the other...

What do you think the difference is?

Could be different brands or updated designs. Do they both say Sachs on them?
    Adam Fogg- '88 M3

Common sense- It's the new 'gifted'

more springs on the hub tends to mean that the clutch disc is more "sprung" which is supposed to dampen the engagement of the cluch making it feel less like an on/off switch.

there are also different clutches for air cond./ non air cond. cars too. guess one is a bit stronger for the extra drag from the AC.
