    Couple Tranny questions...

I was comparing my two trannies today, and had a couple questions.

I have two trannies, the IS tranny with 188,000 miles and my Eta tranny with 221,000 miles.

    - My IS tranny has a slightly loose input shaft - as in, it wiggles a tiny bit - not a huge amount, but enough to move back and forth a noticable amount. Is this a problem?
    - My Eta tranny has a little bit of play within the gears. When I put it in any gear, and turn the input shaft, there's about 10-15 degrees of play, where the output shaft is not turning - is this a sign of where?
    - My Eta tranny is harder to turn than my IS tranny? is this a sign of wear?
    - My IS tranny is very smooth to turn, but has that little bit of play in the input shaft. Would such play be noticeable when driving? (Since it'll be in the pilot bearing and all) What does a somewhat loose input shaft mean?

Lastly, I noticed that there's some red gasket stuff coming out behind the input shaft seal cover - does this mean that it has been recently changed, possibly? Just seems interesting that there is some gasket maker there. I've been thinking of having all my seals changed, but I'm not sure if I need it done! :)

I'm trying to figure out which one to use. I'm kind of leaning towards the one with less miles. I'm pretty sure that tranny was used by a family that just drove their car - not hard, just drove it, as a daily driver. So, if anything, tha tranny is probably tighter than the other one.
