Short Shifter Install and Rebuild Shift Carrier

OK...so I believe I have read all of the threads on short shifters and replacing the shift carrier and shift arm bushings. I bought a Z3 1.9 shifter and delrin bushings (including the rear bushing) from Garagistic. I referred to Garagistic's installation tips and bought the HF "bitch clip removal tool". So the car is jacked up/supported, the rear of the exhaust is removed (I'm replacing with Stromung cat-back). I understand that I will need to support the tranny and remove the cross brace to gain some access. Can this job actually be done without removing the front section of the exhaust and driveshaft from under the car without a high lift? I have all the parts and am ready to go. Thanks guys. Swen.
