How much does a used 5 speed 325 transmission go for?

3 questions: About how much should I expect to pay for a used 5 speed 325 transmission.

What does Getrag mean?

What all can you do, if anything, to know if the transmission is working/etc.. The transmission is already out.

Getrag is the company that makes a lot of trannys for BMW, that and ZF and maybe another one. Check out theeurodepot.com for their prices then you can guesstimate on that. I probably wouldn't pay more than $300 for an e30 325i tranny. See if the input and output shafts turn. They shouldn't turn super easy but they should turn. Check it for cracks all around it. See if it shifts through the gears. Not too sure how else you would check to see if it works if its not in the car, but im sure there is a way.

EDIT: theeurodepot.com wants $395.00 for a used 325i tranny, and $895.00 for a 325ix tranny, I hope you dont need one of those

This guy is selling a 89 325i tranny for 250, its a 5 speed and he says it works. ID hit him up and see what he has to say about it.
