    Who makes good replacement bearings?

I think my rear wheel bearings need replacement, and possibly my carrier bearing. I am used to American stuff where Timkens are available. Which ones are decent? FAG, Febi, Vaico?

    Thanks

FAG is about the best you can do for the money. They've been known to come in Timken boxes for E30 parts.

SKF is another good brand. Several of the bearing companies are owned by one manufacturer and juts rebrand the bearings.

National Bearing, Timken, SKF - really any name brand bearing will be good for rear wheel bearings.

Yeah I am going to be buying a timing belt kit from ECS for my car and the ones I listed off are the brands they carry, so I figured I would buy all the stuff at once.

Rather than buy from ECS, you should support a forum sponsor like Blunt, BMA or Guten.

And save a boatload in shipping. ECS may have cheaper part prices (not always), but they rape you with shipping to make up for it.

I was gonna get free shipping anyway from them cause of the timing kit. I'll check out Blunt.

What size is the nut on the rear axles? 30mm?

Do you mean the size of the threads or the socket size?

Don't tell people this - but when you're clueless on parts - email blunttech.

                      Send an email like this:

                      "I need a {{{cheap/medium/top of the line}}} part.

Let them know what you want, and inside of a few hours you'll get 2-3 options.

They actually know the different quality of stuff they sell, and will point you to the best they can.

Yeah I meant socket size. I ended up ordering a socket because it was either spend $20 on shipping, or get the socket for $20 and free shipping.
