in 2nd while moving = grinding????

its been happening since i put my z4 shifter in, (i think its the harmonic balancer) but when ever i put it in 2nd (and only second) and move the shifter to the left or push it back harder i can feel like the shifter is grinding or scratching against something.
whatever its hitting, it doesn't feel like its perfectly smooth or a perfect circle?

yeah mine did that too. when you install a lever with a shorter throw (shift ratio) it relocates the selector rod slightly and it can contact the vibration damper on the driveshaft.

it shouldn't hurt anything but i would take it back out and bend the rod in the direction it already has a notch. see the writeup at understeer.com for pics
