    Please help - Grinding noise

    Hi Guys,

I have a grinding noise when the rear passenger wheel hits a pot hole or uneven road. It feels like the wheel is not turning and the car will have a slight sway to the right. This happens after replacing the rear wheel bearings, cv joints and D2 coilovers. But prior to installation I have replaced all the bushings on the rear of the car differential, sway bar and trailing arms. CSB was changed 2 years ago.

It puzzled me what causes the noise since I have changed all bushings as far as I can remember. Could this be that the noise is from differential? And what component would that be?

Please share your thoughts about this problem.

    Regards,
    Harold

Or could this be the wheel bearing I put in is defective?

    Any thoughts?

You say it only happens over bumps. How low are you? Are you perhaps bottoming out and the tire is hitting the fender well? Check for rubbing.

        Sounds like bottoming out.

I haven't thought about the bottoming of the shocks. It has a half inch gap between the tire and fender. I will try to adjust the stiffness of the shocks and will see.

Half inch??? I'd say that's entirely likely then.

Get someone to push down on the rear end while you're looking into the wheel well, should tell you what's going on.
