I have a question? I just finished the s50 swap in my e30 vert, and I have the 95 m3 tranmission in it. I had the shop install a z3 short shifter and I wanted to know if the z3 1.9 shift lever will work with the e36 m3 tranny? The problem is the car won't engage reverse gear very well and even when it does it pops out if you don't hold it there! also 5th gear is sometimes hard to engage but the rest of the gears work flawlessly. I thought that maybe the short shift from the z3 is to short to properly engage reverse and 5th? I guess if the 4cyl z3 has a different tranny then it probably wouldn't work. Let me know if any of you have had this problem or if I'm just crazy.
