Figured i'd reach out if anyone can diagnose this issue. Long story short, I have a 1991 325i 5-speed, lately its been requiring a bit of force to move the shift lever into 1st (and sometimes 2nd gear). It gets slightly easier once the car has been started and is running for the day, but cold start in the morning it takes a little muscle.
My guess would be the clutch cable needs to be replaced, but could it be the flywheel?
Also to add to it, if I'm slowing down towards a stop sign (with foot on the clutch) and move the lever to 1st, the car makes this winding noise (note this is still while the clutch is depressed).
Thoughts?
