Rattle in tranny NEED HELP. 325is

Help. I have a rattle sound coming from my transmission. 325is 1987. 5 speed manual. When I clutch in the sound goes away. It's not a whine or a squeak. But a rattle not that loud. Was wondering if it's a throw out bearing or something else. PLEASE HELP.

Known as "Getrag rattle". Very common, not a problem. Made worse by lightweight flywheels. It comes from the input shaft bearings and will do it even with new ones. Learn to live with it.

The funny part is it's only sometimes. Not all the time. But it sounds like a box of marbles flying around in the tranny

Yup, these engines and transmissions are the ultimate sleeper combo. Like an asthmatic marathon runner.
