Hello! I am installing the AKG short shifter, and can't seem to find how to remove the shifter stock housing without completely breaking it. Any insight and help is much appreciated.

It comes out from the top. There is a ring that turns 1/4 turn or so and unclips, then the lever pulls out. See here:
