You can use the 87 in the 89, but not the other way around.

Reverse sensor is the same. Plug the holes for the 2 flywheel sensors, the 89 doesnt use them.

Output flanges may be different, but are swap-able.

One of the smaller bolts in the lower left of the bellhousing may be too short or too long, but swap-able as well.

Common sense- It's the new 'gifted'

output flanges like output to driveshaft? what goes into changing them?

and i have all the bolts from my current tranny, and will be keeping them as my tranny is pretty toast (well just needs new bearings really)

I'm doing the same exact thing within a few weeks. Some stuff may not line up on the bell housing as said, but it works. AFAIK. What is the production date on the E. I know some changes happened in 87. Not sure if anything changed around the tranny.

          James Crivellone told me:

If you use all the E parts then you do not need anything. If you want to get some better performance out of the thing then I recommend the following.

I single mass flywheel machined down to around 13lb
          I Clutch
          I Pressure Plate
          *533I throwout bearing *Part #21 51 1 204 525*

*Otherwise the clutch will not grab as hard if you use an I flywheel/I throwout bearing with an ETA transmission. (the bellhouse is a tad deeper)
