    Removing rear axles

I dropped the rear axles assembly from my 84 318i to deal with some rust repairs. Now that the assembly is out I though I would take the axle assembly apart to have the subframe and trailing arms media blasted and repainted. Any ideas on how to “lock up” the axle so I can get the 6 allen head screws loose securing the axles to the differential?

Lol never mind. I see you have removed everything from the car

The diff flanges just “pop” out with a couple pry bars

you can hold the input flange on the diff while you loosen the axle allen head screws. If you have some spare bolts to put into the input flange, you can hold the flange with a pry bar against the two bolts.
