Diff/ speedo plug question

was there a difference in years when it comes to the male plug in the back of the diff. Is the later model round male plug and the earlier flat male plug? If so is there anything that can be done to match up to round on round instead of round on flat. I hope someone understands some part of this question.

There was a difference. Just cut and splice on new connectors, or find the correct harness you need, and cut and resplice.
