    Super Lock Diff?

I need a diff that'll LOCK, and I mean LOCK.

My stock 325is diff is junk right about now, most likely from being old, but even new they only have 25% lock or something?

Is there a way to shim, or jam more clutch plates into the diff when rebuilding it?

I'm looking for something similar to an ATS carbon 2-way or the nismo/trd clutch types if anyones firmiliar with japanese diffs.

EDIT: Silly me. It turns out ATS makes their carbon diff for e30s. :D

you could always buy a spare and weld the gears on the old one together for a FULL lock diff.

.............or just send me yours and I'll weld it for you............

        Sweet.

If the ATS costs a bajillion (which it might) and I can't get a good cost, then I had planned for a welded diff. :D

Now thats what I was looking for.

So am I limited to just 2 clutch plates in this thing or what?
From previous diff experience, we get better/more lockup from cramming more clutches in there or shimming the existing... I just don't know how the e30 unit responds to this... anyone with any experience?

Sorry to bump an old thread...

How well does a welded diff work in auto-x? I'm on a tight budget. I cannot spare for an LSD. I can auto-x 8 times before I cover the price for an LSD. Is it better than the open diff? I've heard that once you get used to it it's great. I've also heard that it's the worst. I care little about how it affects my daily driving. (I have a truck for that. I'd rather use the car... but a job in construction doesn't work well with that.) Slipping in the rain isn't a worry of mine.

I happen to have an old 3.64 open diff. How expensive would be to weld it
and make a full locking diff out of it and would it be entairtaining for a M10?
The car puts out around 115hp at the moment but has a 3.91 open diff.
Would I have understeer from hell? Will it be undrivable on the streets?
                            N.
