    320i e30 - clutch problem.. pls help...

I hope you can help me. I bought 320i as my daily car. Car is in a good overall condition, unfortunatelly it has some minior problems. I already sloved some problems with electicity, bought new brakes, changed oil..

Yday clutch started to act funny - when I was going to work after ~20min of driving on a motorway I had to stop on the lights. When the lights turned geen I pressed the clutch and I didn't feel the clutch - like it would be loose. I pressed it again - nothing. After the third time it worked, but its very close to the floor. After changing the gears a few times it was working ok in the middle - as usuall, but than again 'clutch working area' moved from middle to near the floor. simillar history again.. Once its working in the middle once near the floor.

what should I check and where?

The first thing to check would be the clutch hudraulic system. Have someone push the pedal and see if the slave cylinder moves with the pedal. You could have a bad slave or master cylinder and if one is bad the slave won't move in concert with the pedal. Also check for leaks.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Bingo. When the slave goes out it's usually pretty quick. Also make sure you have the system bled and clean fluid in there.
