My eta has a new clutch, guibo's and CSB, half shaft boots not torn, diff mount is sturdy. When I let out of the clutch I get a bit of viration which feels like the rear end, or CV's, but all feel solid when I try to shake stuff around with it off the ground. I did convert over to single mass flywheel, but don't think this has any to do with my issue. Ideas? TIA!
Odd vibration

Was the replacement of the CSB prompted by a failure of the rubber mount? If so there's a very high probability that the u-joints in the driveshaft are binding. That will cause problems under conditions of high torque appllied to the drivetrain. You can only inspect the drive shaft for binding u-joints when it out of the car.The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Since I didn't replace this stuff I would have no idea. When I bought the car the PO had replaced the clutch and all the parts mentioned aside from the tranny mounts and diff bush, and the car had sat on the jackstands since this was done until the day I bought (~2 years later). The heat sheild and exhaust was never put back on till I got to it and everything he said he repalced stil looked brand new. The tranny mounts are good, as is the diff bush. I replaced the diff fluid when I put the new speed sensor in too. Maybe I am feeling tire hop. :pWas the replacement of the CSB prompted by a failure of the rubber mount? Unless the rear shocks are really bad I doubt that you'd be getting wheel hop. Short of dropping the driveshaft there's no way to tell if it is a problem. But an experienced BMW tech should be able to tell what is most likely the cause after a test drive. Might be worth paying to have that done. The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

So is it just when you let the clutch up? It could be clutch chatter. Does it go away when the clutch is 100% engaged? What about when shifting?Originally posted by cabriodster87"Honey? Clutch is smooth, it seems like a little vibration in the rear as I push the r3v's up over ~2K RPM's. Granted being an eta I can comfortably drive it under 2 , but I like to beat the piss out of it since it is my only 5 spd and cost a mere $800. :pimp: I had my buddy drive it and I don't feel the vibration in the drive shaft tunnel , and I'm pretty sure the technically 2 month old drive line components aren't giving. I am thinking it is a CV.:nice:Originally posted by 325Projectzdon't listen to the diagram... listen to mr. swiss.Comment
