    what is that noise???????

    how do i know when my center support brg is going bad? also drive shaft brgs? IE universal joints/brgs? getting a rattle unter the car sounds like a cat rattle, but feeling a movement when i shift gears, clutch in/out. everything is tight. sooo.........
    it almost sounds like a cat rattle , but the cat is pretty new and i haven 't whacked it on anything.

    A bad CSB can be visually detected by the cracks/tears in the rubber mount. And under conditions of high driveline torque (like when briskly accellerating in 1st/2nd) you'll feel a pronounced thumping/banging from under the center of the car.

    A rattle sort of sound is more likely to be from a loose heat shield or loose exhaust parts. If you feel movement in the shifter as you load/unload the drivetrain I'd suspect bad transmission mounts.
    The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

      got the thump, everything is tight as far as bolt wise, i know i have a bolt missing on my heat shield all the rest are tight though, didn't think a heat shield vibration could be so loud. the pronounced thump has been there since i got the car but has gotten worse as of late. i know that it is not the layshaft/lightened flywheel noise because that stops when i put in the clutch. the car has all urathane mounts except for the trans, they are stock but in excellent shape. i doo get movement in the shifter with throttle modulation. i suspect that they are just over loaded being the weakest link/softest in the chain. i'll prob just go ahead and replace them with the urathane ones too, when i do the csb. oh yea, all the exhaust hangers are new and in place.

        i know when before i replaced my CSB, there was what it sounded like to be a rat or a chirping bird coming from right underneith me...it would stop after i got goin out of second, but 1st and 2nd were the worst

        it was making me angry...but then my brother told me to check the CSB, and that was the problem...

        is that the kind of sound that youve been hearing?

          yea, really similar to a cat rattling, and i have the thump too. is it a bitch to do?
