    replaceing clutch. few questions

    first of all ive got a non- vanos m50, i removed the transmisson today noticing that there was little ball bearings every where in the bell housing. whats the bearing called that slides over the shaft coming out of the tranny.? 2nd question im getting my fly wheel resurfaced tomorrow, and i wanted to know if i get it lightend how many mills should i get shaved off. if i do this will i need to buy shorter fly wheel bolts?

      1) The bearing that rides over the transmission input shaft is called the throwout bearing
      2) No, you won't need shorter flywheel bolts. They are only shaving the friction surface. However, you should get new bolts. I think they might be stretch bolts. I dunno how many mils to shave off.

        Your info says you have a 325. So you have an eta I assume? That car came with a dual mass flywheel. I think you need/I would reccomened getting a single mass flywheel off of the e36 or an e30 I engined car.

          yes i have a 87 eta, and a 92 525i which im replacing the clutch.
