Should diff input flange be centered in subframe hole?

I'm just about to take off the input flange nut to replace the seal, when i noticed that the input flange to the diff is very not centered in the subframe hole. The diff is mounted to the the subframe, off the car, no trailing arms or axles attached. is this normal???

It could be off but it should be very close to centered. That would be on the car...

Do you think the area the diff bolts to on the subframe is flexy enough to allow for this much flex? And if so i guess once mounted, the car will hold it straight? i dunno.. it seems pretty solid to me. I wonder if my subframe is tweaked somehow. Its a solid inch off center.

Put a square to it and measure it. Make sure you measure it like a box for squareness. That's the best way to do that but it's hard to tell with it off the car. It would seem obvious if it was bent.

Is the diff offset to make room for the exhaust? I'm surprised I never noticed it before.
