    I believe that is a Getrag 262
    The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

      Most 262s were 4 speeds, and this came off an 88 E30 M3. It SHOULD be a 265... did the 262 and 265 share a casing?

        Does it have a vin sticker on it? Run the vin through realoem

          well, there was a VIN sticker on the cylinder head, but I believe that the cylinder head was replaced...

            found on the internet that some m3's had 262's. Instead of 265. Different ratio than the m535. Instead the 262 on the m3sport was a dogleg close ratio 5-speed.

            Just infering from a couple internet snippets, haven't found a definitive article on that.
