Slipping in reverse

I got ix sitting in the garage with an autotragic. It works fine, but would slip in reverse. It would go back, but not if there is a hill. I don't really know the history of the car. It drives fine other than given issue.

Anyone has any ideas whether the tranny is gone or is it something simple? We've replaced the fluid once, but haven't touched the filter. This would be our next step along with another fluid flush.

Failure of reverse is frequently the first sign of failure in an automatic transmission. Wouldn't hurt to try changing the filter, but the odds are against that as being a fix.
