Swapping pumpkins this weekend, anything I should know?

Just a simple pumpkin swap, putting in a 3.73 LSD. I've got a friend's transmission jack which should help with the weight of that beast.

Anything special I need to know or look out for? Should be simple.

    Remove sensor
    Support pumpkin with jack
    Unbolt driveshaft
    Unbolt Axles
    Unbolt pumpkin
    Drop pumpkin out

    Reverse for new pumpkin installation.

    Right?

Pretty much, It is a pretty easy swap. You really don't need a tranny jack. I lifted mine into place on my 2002 by hand. I have only dropped a e30 diff b4, never installed one. It looks really easy.

It's a simple job, there really aren't any suprises.

You don't need a tranny jack, you can use a floorjack to support the diff.

make sure you check your driveshaft u-joints and cv joints.
I noticed my cv joint was bad when I swapped my diff, but forgot to check the u-joint. Didn't realize my u-joint was bad until *after* I had changed the CSB and guibo.

If I had known beforehand, I could have planned a rebuilt driveshaft before the labor of taking out/putting in my driveshaft and the extra expense of a second CSB.

So check the wear joints while under there and they're unattached. Just wiggle them around and feel for clunkiness and play.
Das ist nicht nur nicht richtig, es ist nicht einmal falsch!
