Hey guys,
I completed my 5-speed/engine swap like 2 weeks ago and now I have a weird problem. There's a noise coming from the transmission or clutch area and I can't seem to figure out what it is. Whenever I put the clutch in and throw the car into gear (any gear), there is a squeaky slipping noise. The weird thing is that this is only while stopped, so from what I understand the input shaft should not be spinning, thus ruling out an internal trans problem. I'm probably wrong though. Also, the shift from 1st to 2nd is quite difficult and I really have to let the revs fall to get it into 2nd. Further, I cannot downshift into 2nd unless i'm going under 20 mph. I'm thinking that the synchros are blown and maybe some other internal problem is making the symptoms worse. I have eliminated the chance of it being the throwout bearing because there is no noise with the clutch engaged in neutral. I also thought at first that it was the clutch plate put on backward, but again it should also make the noise in neutral (it doesnt) and I hear spring centered clutches are impossible to install backward. All clutch components are new, the pilot bearing is new, TOB is new, the shifter fork pivot is new, and the hydraulics are new and have been bled about 5 times. I took it to a local shop and they said the trans is shot. Can anybody confirm this? Sorry for the long post.
