    CSB replacement help

Well I'm tryin to replace the CSB on my driveshaft and it I got the snap ring off and the bentley says you have to use a press to get it off. I know a lot of you guys replace yours and most of you don't have a press. So what is the best way to get it off?

Ohh and I removed the dust cap already too.

    TIA

Put it in a vice and hammer the shaft out of the bushing. Then use a socket or tube to hammer the new one back on.

      I used a 3 jaw puller.

+1. If you're not going to reuse the CSB, which you probably aren't, use a knife and cut the rubber close to the bearing to remove the rubber and outer support ring/bracket. Then use a 3 jaw puller. When you reinstall the new one, just place the old bearing on top and hammer the pipe down on that one, so you don't damage the new one. Works great.

The usual cause of the failure of the rubber mount of a center bearing is binding u-joints in the driveshaft. If a failure of the mount was the reason for the CSB replacement you'll be doingit again shortly if you don't replace the driveshaft with a new or reman unit.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

I'm doing the same. I went to change my guibo and in the process, discovered that my CSB is shot (the rubber was completely torn apart and the driveshaft had no support at all), the guibo was torn/cracked in most places, and both transmission mounts were completely gone. If you're replacing your driveshaft, Portland Driveline will send you one for $408 with shipping included both ways for the new one and your core, with a $75 refundable core charge.
