    trans. and drive shaft ?'s

hi, im replacing an automatic transmission, the one that was in the car had no guibo and 4 bolts on the output shaft. the driveshaft as well has 4 bolts on the front of it and the rear where it bolts to the diff. the replacement transmission is the same kind, but it had a guibo on it and a 3 bolt output shaft. oh yea this it on an 87 325es. so what i want to know is:

#1 why did it have 4 bolts and no guibo and all others are 3 on each side with a guibo?

#2 can i swap output shafts?

#3 what size socket is needed on the back of the transmission to remove the nut holding the output shaft on?

any help is appreciated, and yes i do have a bentley so i will be looking this up when i get out there to work on the car.

so what did you end up doing???? I have an 84e that has the driveline that has a yoke on each end, and an 89i that has a guibo on the front of the driveline, both are gaymatics... just wondering what you had to do...

Swap the trans output flanges over .

Cake . But you might want to check that the trans cooler line connection are going to be the same .
