what diff is right for me?

i have an 89 325i sedan manual and was wondering what would be a good diff upgrade for me i would really like better acceleration but i dont want to loose all my top end because it is a daily driven car and it does see highway on a regular basis

    The stock 325is has a LSD 3.73.
It's a common diff, so should be easy to find.

More uncommon and found on some E28, E24, E23's is 3.64, which would probably be better for you if you do alot of highway mileage.

you can probably find those on feebay.

If i were you i would get a 2.73 open...........

lol jk, M3fan4eva is right. you might even be able to go with a 3.25, if you want better highway cruising miles and such.

Your stated goals are at odds. A higher ratio than the 3.73 you have will yield better acceleration, but top end and highway mileage will suffer.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

For highway mileage, DO NOT get a 4.10, revs way to high at any speed.

seriously though a 3.25 will give you about 65mph at ~2500 rpms.

i knew someone with a 2.73, cruised at 80 mph at 2100 rpms all day long. got fantastic highway mileage.
